Meet Senior Early Years Practitioner Angelina

Angelina is one of the dedicated team members at Puddle Lane who is set to graduate with a BA Honours degree in Early Learning and Childcare from the University of the West of Scotland, funded by Kibble.

Every morning, as soon as the children step foot inside their nursery in Hillington, there is laughter and immediate, animated chatter. Puddle Lane is a happy place to spend time, and “morning Lena” is the enthusiastic greeting heard by Senior Early Years Practitioner, Angelina. It is the sound that motivates Angelina every day to be the best she can be. Angelina and her colleagues wholeheartedly agree it is a privilege to be part of the children’s lives, and they strive to deliver outstanding childcare.

Puddle Lane is a children’s nursery in Hillington for all families in Renfrewshire, Glasgow, and beyond. The childcare service offers opportunities for indoor and outdoor play, with large gardens, a soft play area, and a dedicated lunch room. The nursery was opened by leading children’s charity Kibble, originally for staff, before expanding to welcome neighbouring families. Kibble’s 175-year-old history in child development qualified them to launch a high quality, affordable childcare solution. The nursery operates as a social enterprise and reinvests into the service, ensuring ongoing development.

The staff team at Puddle Lane benefit from Kibble’s Further Study Programme. The experienced team has opportunities to strengthen their knowledge, understanding, and skillset. Angelina’s positive personality and willingness to continually evolve the service for families exemplify why she is an ideal candidate for further study. Angelina is striving towards a university degree in Early Learning and Childcare while working full-time. The decision to move forward with further study, demonstrates her commitment to shaping an enriching learning environment for those in the important earliest stages of life.

Angelina shares the motivation behind continuing her studies while working as a Senior Early Years Practitioner: “I absolutely love my job at Puddle Lane and the best thing about working in early years is spending time with the children.”

She acknowledges the big responsibility of balancing university and work: “Yes, studying while working is a massive commitment, but I thoroughly enjoy learning. I have always been studious and being able to gain an even greater understanding of childhood is very valuable to me.

Angelina is beginning to visualise what having the degree will mean to her: “I can bring new learnings straight into my job at the nursery. To officially have a degree and apply my academic knowledge to help children develop and thrive will be so rewarding.”

A friendly and familiar face to children and families, Angelina’s dedication to delivering an outstanding childcare service is recognised by all who know her. Angelina is an organised professional with a creative flair and is always in the middle of a big artistic project that very much involves the little ones. Known for her bold ideas, kids are always ready for their next arts and crafts experience with Angelina. Past masterpieces have involved hand-crafted decorations for Puddle Lane’s Halloween Festival complete with haunted houses and photo booths, and building life-size snowmen from cardboard boxes. We cannot wait to see the fun experiences Angelina thinks up next.
